University

Hello all! I'm so sorry it's been a while since I posted but I've been at university since Sunday so, as you can imagine, I've been busy mingling, drinking and sleeping. Uni has been great so far, I've had two nights of freshers so far and they've seriously been great. Tonight is ABC night (anything but clothes) so it should be interesting trying to make a dress out of bin bags and tape!

I wanted to include some pictures of my room so you can see how I decorated it. Sorry about the quality of the pictures, I'm using my iPhone because my camera needs charging and I'm just too lazy to do so! Enjoy.

Have you just started uni? Let me know in the comments. Also, if you want to know where any of my decorations are from, ask in the comments and I'll let you know

Geek Girl 2 - Model Misfit Book Review

Geek Girl Model Misfit is the sequel to Geek Girl. It stars a teenage girl called Harriet Manners who, to put it blankly, is a complete geek! Which, is relatable because I think we all posses an inner geek (And if you don't think you do,  stop lying to yourself!).

In this book, Harriet gets a call from her agent informing her that she has got a modelling job in Tokyo - she's doing alright for a girl who has just finished her final GCSE (whilst painted gold...). Although Harriet is extremely intelligent, she does get herself into some very silly situations that have made me laugh out loud.  After reading it, I really want Harriet Manners to be my best friend, take me on her modelling trips and tell me useless facts all the time.

We see Nick (Harriet's love interest from the first book) come back into the scene when he also goes to Japan. Nick and Harriet really do make my heart melt, their relationship is very cute. If you're anything like me when it comes to a bit of romance, you'll be a sucker for this book!

My favourite thing about Geek Girl is that it's a very different and somewhat unique book. You'd expect models to be the 'cool kids' and not to be geeky whatsoever! Harriet, however, is completely the opposite to the stereotypical model which gives the story more of a humorous and interesting edge.

Overall, I think that the book is a very easy read, nothing too serious and a fantastic book for teens. It's also something I genuinely enjoyed reading and it also introduced me to the author (Holly Smale) and I intend to get my nose stuck into some of her other books!

Not only did I enjoy the book, but I also feel as though now I know a lot of random facts  such as:

  • Humans have 70,000 thoughts per day
  • Shark embryos fight and eat eachother in the womb and only the winner is born
  • Caterpillars have four thousand muscles

(Also love the artwork on the cover!)

Are you thinking of reading this book? Any other books by Holly Smale that is a good read? Let me know in the comments!

The book is out on September 26th, you can pre-order it here

Lee Stafford Bleach Blonde Shampoo & Conditioner Review

If you've seen previous pictures of my hair colour, you may be thinking 'your hair isn't blonde?!'. And that's true, it's not. Although, I did ombre my own hair a couple of days ago, so just less than half of my hair is a blondish colour.

Once I'd dyed my hair, the colour of it was slightly orangey yellow. I'd read a lot about silver and purple shampoos so I nipped to boots! At first, I really wanted to get the John Freida tone correcting shampoo, however they didn't have it at my local Boots. So I settled for the Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes purple shampoo and conditioner. The job of these products is to 'lightly tone, refresh and restore your blonde hair to salon beautiful colour'.

The first time I used this product (you're only supposed to use it once a week) I saw a different in my hair. It toned down the intensity of the colour, and made it more natural looking, rather than a dyed blonde colour. It also reduced the orange colour which is what I wanted! So overall, I love these products - they smell amazing too.

I would highly recommend this product to anyone with dyed blonde hair in order to keep it looking in good condition.

I'm getting my hair done at the salon at the end of next week because I wasn't 100% happy with my attempt of DIY - I'm generally not the best at things like that! But I intend on doing a full post on my ombre hair once it's done.

Have you tried these or any other similar products? Let me know!

A Moisturizer For Lazy People

Lets face it, sometimes we just can't be bothered to rub moisturizer all over our bodies after a shower. I know I'm extremely lazy when it comes to this, as after a shower I just want to dry off and throw on some comfy clothes. That's where this little gem called the Spray-On Body Moisturizing Mist by Soap and Glory comes in handy!

Like every Soap and Glory product, it smells amazing, it has that signature Soap and Glory scent (like in the body butters, body wash & others). The mist is really fine and even so you don't have random patches of the product on your skin - it goes on evenly.

The thing I like about this (probably due to my laziness) is that it doesn't take long to skin into your skin at all. So, if you're applying it after a shower you can spray it on (once dry) and immediately put clothes on - which is a plus for me! I hate the waiting around for moisturizers to sink into the skin.

Obviously, with it being a body mist, it's not going to deeply moisturize your skin. But, it does definitely soften the skin and leaves a really nice, 'just washed' scent. I just feel more clean after spraying this all over!

Have you tried this? Or do you want to? Let me know in the comments!

August Favourites

Hello, hope you're all doing well! As promised, here is my August favourites post. As you many see, there are little makeup products because I really haven't been wearing that much makeup recently, unless I'm going on a night out, or seeing friends - stuff like that! I've only been using my MUA Pro-Brow Palette, Bobbi Brown Gel Liner and a couple of different mascaras (none of the mascaras have that 'wow' factor!). Although the brow palette is one of my favourites, it won't be included in this post because I've mentioned it in previous posts.

Studded Flat Shoes
I finally got a new pair of shoes and I love them! I managed to get them for about £5 on eBay, but they're originally from Primark. Yes - I'm being super cheap and buying Primark off eBay!! Although they're cheap, they're extremely comfortable and they look nice, so I can't complain!

Neutrogena Gentle Exfoliating Wash
I've been loving this product! I've noticed a huge different in my skin whilst using it, such as less redness, smoother skin and it just overall makes my skin look more even and clear. I don't really suffer with bad skin so I'm not too sure how well it would clear up acne and things like that, but it certainly helped my skin to improve. Click here to see a review of this gem!

H&M Nail Polish in 'Chill Out'
I did a post about this nail polish which you can check out here. I've been using this polish for my toes and I love it. It makes your toes look colourful but clean, if that makes sense!

Dexter, Pretty Little Liars & True Blood
I've enjoyed watching these programmes so much! If you're watching Dexter at the minute, you'll know it's the last season, which I am devastated about. However, I am loving the final season, only 3 episodes left - eek! I'm pretty sure the majority of teenage girls (my boyfriend also watches it...) have been watching Pretty Little Liars, and if you've watched the most recent episode I'm sure you were shocked!! I was literally jaw dropped, a little bit of me died inside!! I don't want to say too much incase you're not up to date - but oh my god! True Blood is one I've started watching recently, up to season 4 at the moment and I'm enjoying it, although it is extremely sexual. People had warned me before I started watching it, but I had no idea it was actually this raunchy! I still love it nevertheless. What are some of your favourite shows?

My bed
Bit of an odd one - I know! Although I have been fully embracing the comfort of my own bed. As I only have about 3 weeks until I move out, I'm using that as an excuse to stay in bed A LOT and make the most of the time I have with my own bed before we have to part ways! I know it sounds sad, but there really is nothing better than your own bed!! Agree?

Quite a few random favourites this month, but as I said, I haven't been using many beauty products. Plus, I enjoyed including other things, rather than just all beauty!

What are your favourites for the month? Comment or send a link to your favourites posts and I'll take a look!

Slacking, Blog Name Change and Chit-Chat.

Hello you! My posts at the moment haven't been very frequent and I apologise for that. I've been busy sorting out all of my university stuff as I go on the 29th of this month, so I've been buying all the bits that I need, putting time into talking to my new flat mates and spending time with friends before we all move to different cities!

I've also been working to try and build up some more money for uni, applying for jobs and spending time with my boyfriend who leaves for his second year of university in about two weeks. Because of all this, blogging really hasn't been a priority. But, I'm pretty much sorted in terms of preparation for university now, and I'm ready to start blogging more frequently. I've got a few posts in mind that will hopefully be coming up within the next few weeks, such as what I'm taking to uni and then a university room tour type post once I'm there. I also want to do a lot of posts based around uni, including freshers and just how I'm adapting to the change of moving, meeting new people and starting a degree. I think posts like that could be helpful to people also starting university, let me know what you think!

When I first started my blog I never really thought much about the name of my blog - hence the really unimaginative name. I've been kicking myself recently about it and I really want to change the name of it to something better. If anyone has any ideas of names, or even how you came up with your blog name then I'd be really interested to know to please do comment and give me some tips!

I should have favourites post up this weekend so watch out for that! If there are any other posts you'd like to see please let me know in the comments as I'm always wanting to write about what you lot want to read!

A Nosy On My iPhone

I've watched a lot of the 'what's on my iPhone' videos on YouTube so I decided to do a big blog post about what's on mine. There will be quite a few pictures on this, just to warn you!
